Overall, this is a great addition to the helmet, since this does mean improved safety. This means that if the helmet hits something at an angle, then a secondary layer will allow the helmet to move slightly and reduce the force transferred to your head. This is an advanced energy management system designed to manage the energies of oblique impacts with slip plane technology. In addition to this you are getting the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) integrated into the helmet. With the interior removed you can see the helmet is prepared with integrated speaker pockets for your choice of system and it comes with plenty of deep EPS grooves. With the cheek pads out now, you can then remove the comfort liner, which is also held in by 2 snaps at the front and back. To remove it, you’ve got the cheek pads, which are held in with a set of snaps and there is also the double D-ring chin strap for keeping the helmet on your head. And it is designed with prescription glasses wearers in mind since it does come with cutouts in the cheek pads. The X-Static XT2 silver liner in the helmet is designed to be removable, washable, and anti-bacterial to keep your helmet fresh over successive rides. Next up, we come to the Bell Star MIPS DLX’s interior liner. To remount the visor, all you need to do is slide and click it back into place on both sides once more. All you have to do is do this on both sides and the visor will lift out. So, all you do is push the button on the side and slide the lock forward to release. Nonetheless, we are getting the same quick release visor removal system. One thing to notice though is that compared to the Race Star, the Bell helmet does not include any tear off posts since it’s built with a more street focus, which means that this helmet will do best in an upright position. To further improve on the helmet's touring options, there is also going to fit the Bell Protint photochromic face shield to handle light and dark conditions. Special cutouts along the bottom of the visor aperture also make sure you get an even better field of view, making head checks easier. The helmet does come with an additional dark smoke shield, which is always nice to see and even comes Pinlock prepared with the anti-fog Max Vision insert in the box. The visor of the helmet is Bell’s own Panovision Class 1 Optics visor designed for a wide field of view with special cutouts to improve peripheral vision while avoiding visual distortion. Lastly, the hot air in the helmet will escape out the rear just above and underneath the helmet’s spoiler. Further up along the front, you also get another brow vent operated by a switch. There are also 4 more inlets in the brow, which are adjustable with a single switch. This means that there is a large adjustable vent in the chin with 4 inlets and a second stopper inside the chin bar. Lastly, it has a light weight of about 1525 grams in a size M or 3 lbs and 6 oz.įor ventilation, the Bell Star Deluxe MIPS will be coming with the same Velocity Flow system as the top-tier Race Star helmet. In addition to the MIPS system which we’ll go into later, the helmet is coming ECE 22.05 certified and it has earned 5/5 stars from SHARP. Though most quality manufacturers produce multiple shell sizes for their helmets they are often shared between sizes, making 6 one of the highest we’ve seen since each size gets its own outer shell. This means that the helmet will always offer the correct fit in both helmet sizing and EPS liner, which means both safety and comfort are simultaneously improved. This means that the helmet will have a light weight and what’s even better is that it comes in an incredible 6 outer shell sizes with each size getting it’s own EPS liner. The Bell Star DLX MIPS Helmet is constructed out of Bell’s Trimatrix Composite shell, which is an aramid, carbon fiber, and fiberglass composite. So, with a recommended retail price of about 500 Euros or 600 USD, the Full-Face Helmet will be competing with the AGV K6, HJC RPHA 70 Carbon, Shark Spartan GT Carbon, Shoei GT Air 2, and the Arai Profile-V. One of the features that distinguishes the Star DLX is its MIPS interior, which will be another energy management system designed to deal with those rotational impacts, making this another safety focused helmet. This is going to be coming as a more upper to mid-range Bell option that is designed for more street riding than the Race Star while sportier in design. The Bell Star DLX MIPS Motorcycle Helmet is going to be another premium sport-focused helmet from US manufacturer Bell.
